Year 8 September Dates Letter 2024

Dear Year 8 Parent/Guardian

We hope your child is settling in well to the new school year.  Please read the information below informing you of School Calendar Dates and indicating changes to school routine for Year 8 Students:

  • We would like to inform you that the school photographer will be visiting Monday, 23rd September in the morning to take your child’s official school photographs. These photos are an important part of the school’s records and will be used for a variety of purposes, including their student sims identification. Having your child’s photo taken ensures that the school has an up-to-date image for identification and administrative purposes. There will also be an opportunity for you and your family to purchase your child photograph later, if you wish to keep them as a memento. Please ensure your child attends on time and in full school uniform and looking their best for the day.

  • The College will be celebrating prize day on the afternoon of Thursday 26th September.  Year 8 students should attend school for the full day and should wear their full uniform.   Normal PE and swimming classes will happen as usual. Year 8 will be participating in Induction activities in their form class in the afternoon.

  • Friday 27th September is a Staff Development Day, and all students are off school.

  • We would like to invite you to meet with your child's form tutor on Tuesday 1st October for a brief discussion on how they have settled into Year 8. This will be a great opportunity to discuss their progress, address any concerns, and ensure they are on track for a successful year. Please keep an eye out for further details on scheduling your meeting, which will be arranged over the ‘Calendly platform’ where you can select a time for you and your child to attend the meeting. Year 8 students will be off school on the 1st of October to attend the meeting with you.  Form Tutors will send you a link via text next week.

We look forward to meeting you and discussing your child's experience.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Amanda McGarry

Head of Year 8
